Josie Litton is the author of several NY Times and USA Today bestselling romances. Her current series include: ANEW (sizzling futuristic romance), ARCADIA (sensual contemporary romantic suspense), and ALLURE (dark erotic romance). Look for her on Amazon including in Kindle Unlimited.

Married and living in Connecticut, she is the parent of two grown children. Becoming an empty nester has left her plenty of time to write, think about writing, plan what to write next, and read. When she isn't doing all that, she's cooking, gardening, and traveling.

My favorite holiday cocktail couldn’t be simpler:

Trader Joe’s Black Berry Spritzer, half-and-half with a decent champagne, no need for anything expensive. Add a cherry or a slice of lemon depending on whether you’re feeling sweet or sassy.
I’m dying to know more about your latest novel, Christmas Caress. I know while it’s in the Caress (Arcadia) series, can it be read as a standalone. Can you give me some details?
CHRISTMAS CARESS can definitely be read as a standalone. It features Lucas and Emma, the “stars” of my three-part romantic suspense series, CARESS. I’m hoping that readers who discover this amazing couple as they celebrate their first Christmas together will be inspired to get to know their whole story.  CARESS is complete so no cliffhangers and no waiting. Just lots of good, sexy fun.

Where do you draw your inspirations from?
I wish I knew. Basically, I’ve always been a daydreamer. Ideas flit through my head, some I catch onto and try to follow. It probably helps that I’ve been happily married for many years to the man of my dreams.

Who are your favorite authors?
My absolutely favorite author is Anna Zaires.  I was drawn to her because like her, I also write both dark romance and futuristic romance (as well as contemporary romantic suspense.) I keep going back to reread her series. She’s a wonderful writer who is also a kind and helpful person.

Was there any particular book which gave you the writing bug?
E.M. Hull’s “The Sheik”. It was a huge and very scandalous romance when it came out almost one hundred years ago. I found it in a used book store many, many, **many** years later when I was a kid.  It inspired me to teach myself how to type so that I could write my own book. I never looked back.

Speaking of potentially “embarrassing” subjects, what’s the strangest thing you had to research for your writings?
Sex toys, including a visit (or maybe two or three, tops three) to our local sex shop.  Turns out that it’s run by a very nice husband-and-wife team who were very generous with their time and expertise.
Research aside, what’s the hardest part of being an author?
I love writing but it can be a lonely occupation.  Nothing makes me happier than hearing from readers.

How would you describe your writing style?
I start out very organized with a fairly detailed outline.  But once the story begins to unfold, I can find myself  jumping ahead to write a scene that just won’t wait, then going back to fill in the gaps. It can seem messy but somehow it all comes together and works out in the end.

Any “fun facts” about the book?
CARESS, including CHRISTMAS CARESS, is set in a fictional luxury apartment building in New York that I’ve named the Arcadia. But it’s actually based on a building that really does exist. The incredible tower apartment described in the story was inspired by an apartment that belongs to a famous actress.

Have you had any odd fan encounters?
Years ago, a woman came up to me and told me very angrily that I was writing smut. She said she knew it was because she’d read every page. Every single one. I suspect more than once. I guess that means she counts as a fan? OMG WOW

Is there anything you’re currently working on now?
I am finishing my first dark romance story, CHOSEN. The final part will be out early in the new year.  Then I want to write the next book in the series that will follow CARESS, also set in the Arcadia. After that, I may do another story in my futuristic romance series, ANEW. For anyone who would like to keep track of this, the best way to do so is through my Readers Group at http://eepurl.com/09C3H.  Ooooh I Love Dark Romance Can't Wait To Read Your Title Chosen When it Releases

Any Inspiration or Guidance for Aspiring Authors?
If you have a story, tell it. This is a golden age for writers. It’s never been so possible to reach an audience. Sure, it’s lots of hard work with plenty of frustrations but readers are out there and finding them is wonderful. Reach out, learn from others, share what you know, and above all, don’t give up!
