When two hidden worlds collide near modern day Lake Michigan, Jennifer, a young Native American, is confronted with the reality not everything is as it seems and things do go bump in the night. The questions she has long since asked are answered in this epic tale of self discovery when she meets Gabriel; the director of Guardians Incorporated.
Born in New Tuat, Netchkhet, now known as Gabriel, came to Earth some five thousand years ago to protect the human race, Disillusioned because of an unfulfilled prophecy, he has become cold and distant - even from those of his kind. Secretly, he waits for his enemy to take his head so he may leave this world for good.
Can a tiny Selkie melt his hardened heart and restore his faith in a power far greater than himself? When history repeats itself, can he save her from death's embrace or will they be robbed of a future again?

Interview with Jennifer, heroine from Eternal lovers.

INTERVIEWER: Today, we are interviewing, Jennifer, a twenty four year old Native American/Selkie who is the heroine from V.S. Nelson’s Sekhmet’s Guardians–Book One–Eternal Lovers.

INTERVIEWER: Jennifer, thank you for being with us today.

JENNIFER: Thank you for having me. I will admit, I’m a little nervous. I’m not use to all this popularity.

INTERVIEWER: I think you better get use to it. From what I understand you’re featured in an eleven book series.

JENNIFER: So I’ve been told.

So why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself… What was it like growing up – were you raised on a reservation?

JENNIFER: No, I wasn’t raised on the reservation. My grandparents moved to California long before I was born. As a small child, we lived in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, close to Yosemite. I didn’t have a lot of friends back then… not unless you count the wildlife that surrounded our camp. My days were spent doing chores, fishing and exploring the wilderness. I was home schooled by my grandmother, a medicine woman, who not only taught me how to read and write, she taught me how to develop and hide my unique abilities.

Did you know you were half Selkie then?

JENNIFER: Oh on. I didn’t know anything about my Selkie side until much later in life. By the time I hit my teenage years, I assumed my father was a white man – mostly because of my eye color. My grandmother use to tell me that the outside world wouldn’t understand what I was able to do so I pretty much kept things a secret. I assumed my gifts, as she use to call them, was inherited from her.

So what sort of unusual things can you do? What sort of gifts?

JENNIFER: Well for starters, I swim pretty fast. Using Raphael’s speed boat, Alice, my best friend, clocked me at 65mph, but I think I can actually swim faster than that.

Wow! What about the other stuff? Is it all true?

JENNIFER: I’m not sure what all you’ve heard.

(Jennifer looks around the room as if she’s looking for something or someone)

Jennifer?

JENNIFER: Oh sorry, I thought I heard someone in the hall. You have to understand I’m still learning what I can and can’t do. I’ve always been able to hear animal’s thoughts. And they can hear mine too. I guess that’s a pretty common Selkie trait. As far as the past life stuff, I’m not sure where I got that from. You know, I really don’t like doing that. It makes me feel like I’m some sort of a peeping Tom. I don’t know where that trait came from.

I’d like to show you something that I think is pretty cool.

(Jennifer holds out her hand and I watch as her beautiful manicured fingernails grow in length to what looks like 6 inch razor sharp knife blades. She grins then quickly retracts her hand and her nails return to normal)

 Wow!

JENNIFER: Something my dad taught me.

So what is your father like?

JENNIFER: Ronan, he’s just as unique as the Ancients. Unlike me, he is tall; broad shouldered and has silver white hair. He’s also 700 years old. He’s pretty quiet and when he first came to live at the estate he had to learn how to adjust to living in our modern society. You see he spent most of the 700 years living in the depths of the ocean. Marie, another friend of mine took him under her wing and taught him everything from how to use silverware to waltz.

Sounds like Marie really likes your father. Is there a romance there?

JENNIFER: Oh no, Marie is married to a rock star. Think it is just her way. She is very material with all of us.

 So when you met Gabriel?

JENNIFER: Oh God…
 (Jen laughs out loud)
… I didn’t officially meet Gabe right away. First time I saw him was the night, the British Rock Band, The Immortals were hosting their welcome to the U.S. tour party. I was so afraid of him. Would you believe I actually told him to “fuck off,” the first time he said anything to me. Oh, I’m sorry am I not allowed to use foul language?

No problem, please continue with your story.

JENNIFER: Anyway, Gabe walked in with four hot looking women. I was immediately taken in by his… well he is quite handsome, anyway, the longer I looked at him the more scared of him I became. I know his size is something that often scares other people, but that wasn’t what scared me. It was the fact he was touching a part of me that no one ever had. It’s kind of hard to explain but it was like he was touching the inside of my soul.  It literally, scared the dickens out of me. So I ran to the bar to get a drink, then I ran into Raphael, who I didn’t know at the time was Gabe’s best friend… and wouldn’t you know it, Gabe followed us to the dance floor.

(Jennifer laughs again)

I ended up telling Raphael I was being stalked by a pimp. I don’t think that went over too well when Raphael told Gabe what I said. Making a long story short I was really attracted to Gabe but was also very intimated by him and my feelings. I started dreaming about him and because of that I made some really stupid mistakes.
It wasn’t too long after that I met Ronan, my real father and found out what I am. I also found out I was living in a house filled with alien immortals. Do you know there is a whole new world out there most humans know nothing about?

So what can you tell us about the others who live at the Lake Michigan Estate? What is it about these guys you call the Ancients?

JENNIFER: OMG where to start? I suppose like most people you want to know about the hunks that hang out there, starting with the Ancients. I jokingly call them my personal Ninja Turtles because of their names but believe me they are nothing like the cartoon characters. They are all quite delectable and if it wasn’t for Gabe…. Guess I better not go there, he might listening to this interview.

(Jennifer reaches over and takes a drink of her ice tea and tries to hide the smirk on her face and red cheeks.)

JENNIFER: Anyway as I was saying, the Ancients came from a place called New Tuat, a parallel dimension to Earth some five thousand years ago. Each of the seven possess certain… shall we say unusual characteristic, charm and special abilities. A quick synopsis of them is; Raphael is funny, quite handsome and has a fondness for all living things, where Lance, Gabriel’s baby brother, is a blond haired genius. Michael, the resident physician reminds me of Angel, you know the guy who use to be in love with Buffy, who is now on Bones? Oh yeah, then there is Thomas – suave and sexy, Thomas – what can I say about him – he radiates sex from every pore of his body… Raziel, he looks more your typical warrior hero but is quite the scholar and Ariel, well let’s just say I haven’t quite figured him out yet. Like the others, he’s as handsome as they come but there is something about him I just haven’t put my finger on yet. Give me some time and I’ll find out his secrets.

Wow, sounds like you’ve got them pegged pretty good.

JENNIFER: Oh there is still so much I don’t know about them but I can tell you this, the books in the series will tell the reader everything they want to know about them.

So how many books does Ms. Nelson have planned for the series?

JENNIFER: As far as I know, nine were originally planned but I know V has added a couple of spin offs--historicals to be exact. As the Ancients share more of their story with her, she in turn takes notes then pencils in additional books to be written. She is currently working on books five and six.

Think we have time for one more question. I know a lot of authors are releasing short stories, some even less than 100 pages. What is the length of the books in Sekhmet’s Guardians and are they only available in e-format?

JENNIFER: I can’t speak for all of them, but I will tell you that book one, Eternal Lovers is over 500 pages and book two, Eternal Nights is just as long. I imagine they will all be about the same length. All of V’s books are available in paperback and e-format and are available on Amazon and through most book outlets. Eternal Lovers is also available in large print. V offers signed editions through her website for those that might be interested.

Jennifer it’s been fun but I’m afraid our time is up. I really enjoyed having you hear today and hope you will consider coming back soon.

JENNIFER: It’s been fun. I’ll check back later and answer any questions your readers may have for me.

If you’d like to know more about Jennifer and the amazing hunks that hang around their lake estate please pick up a copy of V.S. Nelson’s SEKMET’S GUARDIANS – BOOK ONE – ETERNAL LOVERS, at a retailer near you. The second book in the series, ETERNAL NIGHTS is scheduled for release the first of May followed by book three, Eternal Blades in December.

I enjoyed this read. I liked the way the author could write from different POV's and not lose me. So many can not pull the different POV's , but V.S. Nelson did and had me turning pages into the wee hours of the morning when I should have been sleeping. This books as it all a love story to melt even the coldest of hearts. Action non stop with the war that is raging.
We have a unique and awesome twist to Vampires in this read along with mythology and aliens oh my. V.S. Nelson  has created well rounded characters and gives us their background along the way. We get to feel  the loss that Gabe feels . We get to experience Jennifer's struggles, and her coming to terms with her own abilities that she tries hiding.  Can Gabe and Jennifer reconcile with their past to have a future? To find the answer to this question make sure to grab yourself a copy. This is a spoiler free zone. But I do recommend you to check this book out if you love vampire stories with a unique twist with love and loss.
I will admit this story was very very busy but a read well worth it. V.S. Nelson has set a great world for us to transport to and I loved exploring and looking forward to exploring more in book 2 Eternal Nights.
